However, there are more flavors outside of the U.S.! Yes, over 100 around the world. The Dump Cake. Yes, it can sound slightly off putting, but the delish dish has been around for ages. The dessert is said to have been created in the 1940’s and a recipe published in 1980. Don’t confuse this dish for the very similar upside down pie: cobbler. The difference is Dump Cake has a cake-like/actual cake topping. It is sometimes called “Wacky Cake” or “Crazy Cake” because the creation seems a little backwards.

According to legend, potato chips were created in 1853 by George Crum, a Native American/African American chef at the Moon Lake Lounge in New York. A dining patron didn’t like how thin his french fries were served. When the waiter brought the fries back to the kitchen, Crum took it upon himself to show the unsatisfied customer just how thin a fry could be! He sliced the potato so thin, he created the potato chip! To his surprise, the patron loved it. This tale has given Crum credit and the potato chip inventor, but there was no mention of this contribution to society in his obituary.
