Why All the Hoopla about Coconut Water

March 5, 2015

Coconut water is the nourishing liquid inside the coconut fruit.  This liquid is packed with vitamins and minerals.  Many have said that Coconut water is “nature’s sports drink”.  Coconut water is a natural sports drink that offers many of the same benefits as sports drinks, including the electrolytes, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium, but in their natural form versus chemical form. Coconut water has less calories and sodium, and it contains more potassium than a sports drink which may make coconut water a better choice for you. There are also some health benefits to drinking coconut water. Coconut water is an all-natural way to hydrate, to moderate sodium and to increase potassium to diets. Many people do not get sufficient potassium in their diets because they do not eat enough fruits, vegetables, or dairy…so coconut water can help fill in the nutritional gaps. Additionally coconut water can assist with weight loss goals.  The fat content in coconut water is relatively low.  A person can drink a liberal amount of coconut water without the consequence of weight gain.  Coconut water, because of its fullness, has also shown to suppress a person’s appetite.
