A Tailgating Time Out with Apple Cider Pulled Pork

October 14, 2018

Keeping things interesting while tailgating is easy with this super recipe.  Sure, the standard brats and burgers always please, but check out this slow-cooker recipe that will win game day!

According to Midwest Living, this one will serve 8

Start with a 3 pound boneless pork shoulder roast

Add 2 teaspoons of chili powder

Salt & Pepper

And 2 cups of apple cider

For the sauce:

1 1/2 cups apple cider

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons chili sauce

4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dry mustard

8 buns, toasted

Coat the inside of a 4- to -5-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Trim fat from pork shoulder and place into slow cooker. Sprinkle meat with chili powder, salt and pepper.   Pour cider over pork. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.

To prepare BBQ sauce, place all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to boiling, uncovered, stirring frequently, then reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 20 to 30 minutes or until sauce reaches desired thickness, stirring occasionally.

When that’s all done, sue forks to pull apart the pork into shreds and serve on burger buns and top with the BBQ sauce.

No matter how the team does, this is sure to win!
