Free Ramen Noodles

November 3, 2019

Like so many dishes from another country, ramen has a storied past.  While there are many legends of how it made its way from China to Japan and eventually to America, it appears to have all began in the 1600s.  A scholar named Zhu Shunsui was a refuge in Japan and an advisor to a prominent political figure.  The legend has it that this may have been the first time ramen appeared in Japan, but others speculate that it wasn’t until the 19th century when it was introduced.  Ramen noodles are simply pulled wheat noodles, and after food shortages in post-World War II Japan, they became a quick and efficient way to feed a large population.  After the invention of instant noodles in the late 1950s, ramen remains a quick and easy way to make a hot dish.  As the weather gets colder, it’s a great idea to keep some on hand to warm a cold belly!  We’d love for you to take some home for free this week.  Just make a $10 grocery purchase and pick up a 12 pack of ramen noodles on us!
