Cinnamon Baked Pears

This week, we have two varieties of pears on special: California Bartlett pears at $1.29/lb and Asian pears for $2.99/lb. This recipe doesn’t specify which kind of pear to use. Asian pears tend to be more crisp and juicy, and are often described as similar to biting into an apple. Bartlett pears may be more familiar, tend to be softer and can bruise easily. Whichever you choose, we think you’ll love this tasty and easy to make dessert from!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 4 ripe pears
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon sugar
  • 1 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 c. Finely Chopped Almonds
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • kosher salt

  1. Preheat oven to 400.
  2. Halve pears and scoop out the center to fit the oatmeal crumble.
  3. Brush insides of pears with 2 tablespoons melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine oats, almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Pour remaining melted butter into bowl and combine until fully coated.
  6. Spoon into pear halves.
  7. Bake until pears are soft, 35 to 40 minutes.
  8. Top with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve warm.
